Legal actions taken against 16 motorists for hiding vehicle’s number plates

The General Directorate of Traffic referred 16 motorists to Public Prosecution for hiding their vehicle’s number plate. Legal actions were also taken against 45 vehicles for other violations.
 
The 16 motorists were found violating between February 13 and March 13 in Sealine area for hiding their vehicle’s number plate. From the pictures released by the officials, it seemed like various motorists were hiding their number plates using facemasks, which is commonly used as preventive measures to combat and limit the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
 
The penalty for hiding a vehicle’s number plate is up to three days in prison in addition to court referral.
The General Directorate of Traffic has issued warning against committing any traffic violations and said that they will not tolerate violations specially in Sealine area. It also highlighted the need to adhere to laws and guidelines to maintain safety of traffic.
