List of Establishments Exempted from Reduced Workforce, Hours in Qatar

Qatar has announced on April 1, a new set of measures in workplaces to prevent coronavirus (Covid-19) spread in the country. The Cabinet decided to implement the following effective April 2, 2020 for a period of two weeks:

  • Reduce the number of workers present in the workplace in the private sector to 20 percent of the total number of workers in each agency, and 80 percent of the rest of the workers start their work remotely from their homes.
  • Working hours for employees and workers at their workplace in the government and private sectors will be 6 working hours per day, starting from 7:00 am - 1:00 pm.

MoCI has listed the establishments and entities exempted from the above decision which include:

  • Pharmacies and clinics
  • Factories
  • Maintenance companies
  • Food and subsidised supplies retail outlets
  • E-commerce companies
  • Telecom companies
  • Banks
  • Companies operating in State-run projects
  • Restaurants (deliveries and takeaways)
  • Gas stations
  • Logistics services companies and firms operating in ports, airports and Customs services
