Lyrids Shower Illuminates Qatar Sky next Monday

Residents of Northern Hemisphere including Qatar resident will have a good chance to seeing and observing Lyrids meteor shower, moreover, it will illuminate northern hemisphere sky from the evening of Monday, April 22, 2019, till the dawn of Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Qatar Calendar House (QCH) announced. 

Astronomer expert at (QCH) Dr. Beshir Marzouk said the Lyrids meteor shower is usually active every year from April 16, till April 25, while its peak occurs from an evening of April 22, till the dawn of April 23. According to astronomer experts on meteors shower observations; Lyrids meteor shower is one of important meteors showers seen from Earth, where the average rate of Lyrids showers flow will be 10 - 20 Lyrids meteors per hour.

Dr. Beshir Marzouk added, the observing of meteor shower not need to astronomical instrumentations, so that Qatar residents and the countries of all Northern Hemisphere residents can see Lyrids  meteor showers with naked eye from places without light and environment pollutions (pure sky), and darker places, added, they need to looking to eastern horizon of sky from midnight till dawn of Tuesday to can observing Lyrids  meteor showers, moreover, they can take a nice photo for Lyrids  meteor shower by using recent digital cameras, but they must increase an exposure time of camera when taking a photo to can get best photos for Lyrids  meteor shower. 

Lyrids meteor shower is created by debris from "Thatcher Comet"; where the Earth passes through the dust and debris it leaves behind during mid of April till April 25 every year.

 

The Moon will be rise over Qatar sky at 9:06 pm on the evening of Monday, so the light of the Moon will be an effect on the observing of Lyrids meteor shower this year.

As known, the best time for observing Lyrids meteor shower is at midnight till dawn time, while the best location is a darker location without light and environmental pollutions.
