The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) represented by the Labour Inspection Department has issued 44 violations of Ministerial Resolution No. (17) for the year 2021, regarding the necessary precautions to protect workers from heat stress in open work sites.
A statement issued by the Ministry stated that legal measures were taken against the violating companies during the inspection campaigns, as the total number of companies that violated the decision amounted to 98 companies since the beginning of the period of prohibition of work in open places, which was set on 1/6/2021. The decision determines the working hours for the works performed under the sun or in open workplaces and in places other than shaded and ventilated, during June 1 to September 15 of each year. As such work is banned in the open from 10 in the morning until 3.30 in the evening.

The statement revealed that most of the companies violating the provisions of the decision, work in the contracting sector (building maintenance), in the areas of Al Muntazah, Khalifa City, Al Wakra, Al Wukair, Al Sailiya, Al Kharaitiyat, Al Rayyan Al Jadeed, Ain Khalid, Umm Salal Muhammad, Lusail, Al Dafna, Muraikh, and Al Mashaf.
The ministry called on all companies in various sectors to adhere to working hours during the summer, for work performed under the sun or in open workplaces, in order to avoid legal measures, noting that these measures come from Qatar's keenness to ensure the safety and health of workers and the work environment.
