Man Arrested for Selling Overpriced Medical Supplies in Qatar

An Asian man was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for illegally selling medical supplies in Qatar.
A tip-off led to the arrest of the accused who has been reportedly selling medical supplies for double the price, said the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Monday. He was referred to the relevant authorities for further legal action after completing necessary procedures.
Large quantities of medical supplies have been recovered from the suspect, including 800 medical gloves, 7, 900 medical masks, and 1, 502 pieces of medical clothing. CID also seized antibiotics, thermometers, and estimated QR 200, 000 cash in his possession.
The accused purchased the supplies from various pharmacies in the country. He was reselling them to the public illegally, taking advantage of the huge demand for these products amid coronavirus (COVID-19) global widespread.
MoI has urged the public to report such violations causing health and economic damage to the society.
