Marine litter cleanup on Qatari beaches

The General Cleanness Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, runs ongoing cleanup activities along the Qatari coastline seven days a week. Marine litter that had drifted ashore are collected using the sand sifting mechanism in order to preserve the beauty of all Qatari beaches.

General cleanness teams carried out intensive seaweed-removal activities, using the sand sifting mechanism put into service recently. The following beaches were covered:

- The Northern Corniche, 2.5 tons removed along 700 meters.

- Abu Dhalouf Beach, 5 tons removed along 1.5 kilometers.

- Al Ruwais Beach, 8 tons removed along 2.5 kilometers.

 

 

 

It should be noted that beach cleanup activities continue throughout the week. ?Al Ghariya, Fuwairit and Al Maroona Beaches were also cleaned, and about one ton of debris was cleaned by the special team in order to maintain the cleanness of the beaches 

MME is a service Ministry directly related to the general public, in order  to meet the many requirements of their daily life, and contribute through its subsidiary departments, municipalities and centers,  to the rapid development  of the State of Qatar. This is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, that aims to place the country among the developed countries, based on the pillars of human development, economic, social and environmental development.
