Mercury to be at Perihelion tomorrow

The smallest planet of our solar system planets "Mercury" will be at reach nearest point in its orbit around the sun (perihelion) on Friday, May 24, 2019, at 10:18 Am Doha local time; where Mercury will be at 46 Million Kilometers approximately from the sun's center; while it was at 70 Million Kilometers from the sun's center on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Qatar Calendar house (QCH) announced.

Astronomer expert at QCH "Dr. Beshir Marzouk" said, Mercury reaching to aphelion point (furthest point from Sun) every 88 days, where it was reached perihelion point last time on Monday, February 25, 2019, while it will reach perihelion point again on Tuesday, August 20, 2019.

As known, Mercury (and all planets) moves in its orbit around Sun on Ellipse (elliptical) orbit, so that Mercury's distance from the Sun's center varies, where Mercury's distance from the Sun's center is 46 Million Kilometers at perihelion (nearest point from the Sun), while it's become 70 Million Kilometers at aphelion (farthest point from the Sun), while the average distance between Mercury and Sun is 58 Million Kilometers approximately. So, astronomers mentioned that, the varies of Mercury's distance from the Sun between 46 Million and 70 Million Kilometers means that Mercury's surface receives over twice as much energy from the Sun at perihelion point as compared to aphelion point.

Dr. Beshir Marzouk added, residents of Qatar country and Arabic area countries will not have chance to seeing or observing Mercury tomorrow; because it will be very close to the Sun, moreover, the time set of Mercury on Qatar sky will be at 6:35 Pm Doha local time, while the sunset time on Qatar sky tomorrow will be at 6:18 Pm Doha local time.

As known, Mercury is the nearest planet from the Sun in our solar system and it's one of inner (solid) planets in our solar system, added, it's have no atmosphere, and no moons move around Mercury.
