Ministry buys 9801 sheep to encourage local sheep production

On the occasion of the national initiative to encourage local sheep production, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Livestock Department, in joint coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and Widam Food Company, purchased 9,801 sheep from Qatari farms.
The purchased sheep were from the 30,000 registered Al-Suri, Al-Arab, Al-Harii and Al-Najdi breeds.
This joint national initiative is implemented under the supervision of a committee formed to make sure that appropriate health and physical conditions for local sheep and high-quality meat is prioritised.
Local sheep are sold at the butcheries of Widam Food Company with two allocated to each citizen in the country.
