The Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department at Doha Municipality implemented 1,494 inspection rounds to food establishments in various regions of Doha last May.

These inspection operations resulted in writing 61 violation reports and closing 12 food facilities which were in violation of administrative decisions for 3 -30 days.

Most violations were in relation to the preparation of food in unsanitary conditions and lack of health certificates for workers.

Veterinarians working at the Health Control Section supervised slaughtering operations at the central automated slaughterhouse.

They also examined 119,083 carcasses. 2,759 whole carcasses were destroyed, while 2,249 kilograms of meat were partially destroyed for being unfit for human consumption.
