Ministry Monitors Prices of Vegetables, Fruits in Qatar During COVID-19 Outbreak

Extending its full support to the community during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) set maximum selling prices for vegetables and fruits at all retail outlets in Qatar until March 31, 2020 (subject to extension).



The inititiative was taken by the Ministry to control price hikes during the outbreak. Violators will be penalized, accoding to the notice posted by the Ministry on Twitter.

This is another effort exerted by the national authorities to help the community during the uncertain times. Just recently, MoCI released fixed rates for hygenic products including sanitizers, soaps, and wipes, which are highly in demand this period. 

The Minisrty also implemented social distancing guidelines for sales outlets and instructed precautionary measures to all delivery companies.
