Ministry of Administrative Development Organizes International Women's Day Forum

The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, represented by Family Affairs Department, organized the International Women's Day Forum, with the participation of a number of specialists in women's affairs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar University (QU), and the Social Development Center (Nama), one of the centers under the umbrella of the Qatar Social Work Foundation.

The participants of the online forum entitled "Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world" which coincides with International Women's Day, discussed women's efforts in confronting the repercussions of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), as they were in front lines to address the pandemic whether in the medical field or community organizations and other leaders in various fields.

They also reviewed the progress in women's empowerment and some of women's work, their courage, and steadfastness in playing exceptional roles in the history of their countries and societies.

 

During the forum, participants addressed the priorities of women's full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, eliminating violence against them, empowering them, achieving gender equality, and emphasizing the role and contribution of women in various areas of society.
