Ministry of Municipality and Environment holds 2-week long campaign to remove abandoned cars

The Committee for Removing Abandoned Vehicles yesterday launched a 2-week long joint campaign to remove abandoned vehicles at Umm Salal Municipality. “About 80 abandoned vehicles are expected to be removed from several places across the Municipality,” said Jassem Al-Kubaisi, head of General Motoring Section at Umm Salal Municipality.
The campaign’s launch is part of a plan the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has in action to reduce and control the phenomenon of abandoned vehicles. After issuing a ticket of violation to all the abandoned cars, they proceeded to remove those vehicles.

It is being implemented and led in coordination with the Mechanical Department and General Cleanliness Department of MME the General Directorate of Traffic’s help.
This initiative started in Umm Slala Mohammed and will keep expanding to cover more Um Salal areas.
He said that many awareness campaigns were conducted to help educate as many people as possible about the impact of abandoning their vehicles. Which has effectively drove a lot of people to remove their vehicles. In addition to the legal accountability under the law No. 18 of 2017 for general hygiene.
Lieutenant Yousuf Fahad Al Ali from the General Directorate of Traffic and a member of the Committee said traffic patrols participated in the campaign to ease the traffic flow during the operation.
