MME Discusses Technical Cooperation Projects in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented in the Department of Radiation and Chemicals Protection held a meeting with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) via video conferencing.
Qatar IAEA Nuclear Power Profile was discussed during the meeting on all the matters concerning the technical cooperation in peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Three major projects were designed to promote the MME regulatory infrastructure to organize the radioactive and nuclear regulation in Qatar. That is in addition to two other projects on the use of nuclear technologies in the advancement of the areas of food security and health services in Qatar.
IAEA commended the progress made by Qatar, represented in the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) in the promotion of the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in agricultural, manufacturing, medical and research industries, as the national regulatory authority that organizes these uses. IAEA officials and contact points in Qatar confirmed the continued and strengthened fruitful cooperation.
Specialists from the MME Department of Radiation and Chemicals Protection, the Ministry of Public Health and agricultural affairs and researches specialists attended the meeting.
