MME Honors Winners of Nature and Wildlife Photography Competition

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) honored the winners of the competition for Nature and Wildlife Photography in the State of Qatar 2019. Organized by the Environmental Affairs Sector in cooperation with Qatar Photographic Society (QPS), the competition aimed to raise public awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and its natural components as well as ensuring its sustainability, in line with objectives of the Ministry's sustainable strategy (2018-2022).

502 male and female participants joined the competition, with 1037 photos and 65 videos. A jury chaired by Mr. Faisal Ahmed Al Mannai of the Ministry's Public Relations Department and Mr. Abdulrahman Ahmed Obaidan Fakhroo, Vice-President of Qatar Photographic Society, Mr. Khaled Abdullah Fikry, Mr. Faisal Abdullah Kandarani and Mr. Mohsen Jaafar (QPS Members ) as jury members evaluated all participating works in accordance with clear artistic standards and principles.

 

 

 

The jury announced that 32 people had won the competition, including 20 winners in the photo category, 2 winners in video, and 10 winners of special awards in photography.

It should be mentioned that the Nature and Wildlife Photography Competition was organized with the aim to highlight methods of raising awareness in the area of the environment and its protection, as a way of implementing the Ministry's objectives listed in its strategy which states: "to protect, preserve the environment from negative impacts resulting from urban and economic growth and rationalize use of natural resources. This is to be performed by conducting research, disseminating environmental awareness among members of society, developing appropriate environmental legislation, and using the latest mechanisms and techniques for environmental monitoring and assessment, in addition to regional and international cooperation on environmental issues of common concern such as climate change."
