MME implements measures to prevent hawksbill turtles at beach

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment's (MME) Protection and Wildlife Department has announced that the registration of the first cases of the endangered hawksbill turtles nestling at Fuwairait Beach.
The project team, in order to protect these turtles has taken all the necessary steps and registered the related data, along with removing barnacles from them and treating the bruises. They also carried out the work in shifting 97 eggs to the designated place at Fuwairit Beach. The project is being carried out under the supervision of the MME, financed by Qatar Petroleum and taken into action by essential steps by the Environmental Science Center at Qatar University, jointly partnering with the team of Protection and Wildlife Department.
Under this project, the northeastern beaches of Qatar are covered including Ras Lafan beach, Huwailah, Al Jassasiyah, Al Marounah, Fuwairait, Al Ghayraih, Al Mafir and the islands of Umm Tess and Rakan.
The MME has also announced the work on the project to protect the endangered hawksbill for the season 2021, according to the Ministerial Decision no 37 for 2010 on the Conservation of Turtles and Seabirds from Extinction.
