The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has affirmed that the five yards for selling local agriculture produce at Al Mazrouah, Al Wakra, Al Khor-Al Thakhira, Al Sheehaniya and Al Shamal will continue to be opened three times a week during Ramadan.
Abdulrahman al-Sulaiti, general superviser of these yards at the MME, said to a local Arabic daily that the five yards will remain opened for business starting from 7pm until 11pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays during the holy month.
He also said that the MME has continued to work operations at these yards during the holy month for the second consecutive year to help the local farmers in the region to reach out to retailers and market their products conveniently. MME official emphasised that the yards does not gather marketing fees from the farmers and help them reach out directly to consumers without intermediaries, which has contributed to prices that are inexpensive of most varieties of vegetables as compared to other retail firms.

Al-Sulaiti also highlighted that the yards have proven to be a very successful marketing place for local farms' products during the past few years, alone with having considered among the best retail venues for such items in Qatar. He also pinpointed that the yards have always been at the highest standards of quality with regard to the products on display, and have a clear approach towards informing consumers about the degree of quality of the items available at the market.
Furthermore, he explained that as part of the Qatar’s efforts to curb the further spread of surging novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), the yards strictly maintain all necessary precautionary and preventive method in this regard.
