MME official: Fish farms expected to produce 600 tonnes of tilapia annually

According to a senior official, the Qatari fish farms are likely to annually produce nearly 600 tonnes of tilapia, which is equal to around a quarter of the imported quantity, but with a great offer in rates.
The head of the fish farming section at the Fisheries Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), Mohamed Mahmoud al-Abdullah, said that the fisheries unit has made great strides in enhancing farms in Qatar.
This productivity also has led to maintaining the food security strategy in the country.
