The General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) took an initiative of carrying out intensive cleaning of wastes across Qatar in the month of April, which saw a result of over 94,255 tonnes of waste being removed, which includes household garbage and construction and solid waste, as well as 36,240 tonnes of haphazardly thrown out waste materials.
The department at MME were also able to remove 6,712 damaged and discarded tyres, 54 discarded road signs, 568 animal carcasses, and 850 vehicles that were not in use.
The department also reported 141 violations in the country with regard to the Public Hygiene Law, carried out 2,037 applications regarding public services, distributed 675 new garbage containers and washed and cleared off 8,219 other garbage containers in the region.
