MME takes part in symposium on capacity building in nuclear security field

Represented by the Radiation and Chemicals Protection Department, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) participated in a joint international symposium on capacity building, in cooperation with the Nuclear Security Division and the Incident and Emergency Centre at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The symposium, which was held virtually, discussed IAEA’s methodology on capacity building in the fields of nuclear security and preparedness and response to emergencies, in addition to a presentation of the Agency’s aid programmes in these fields.

Over 150 persons participated in the symposium, and these participants included relevant authorities responsible in the fields of nuclear security and responding to nuclear or radiological emergencies, at various levels (local, national, regional), as well as technical support organisation, first responders, relevant personnel from international organisations, staff from relevant university and research institutions, professional and educational associations, and non-governmental organisations.
