MME's Food Security Department participates in Food Systems Summit Dialogues

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Food Security Department, participated in the Food Systems Summit dialogues on January 21, 2021.

The meeting was held in collaboration with the United Nations Office in Geneva, by videoconference. Mr. Massoud Jarallah Al-Marri, Director of the MME Food Security Department, and representatives of the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland, participated in the meeting.

Mechanisms to hold a series of national dialogues to identify challenges facing all actors along the food chain were discussed in the meeting, to make the needed recommendations, and present these recommendation at the United Nations Summit on Food Systems 2021, to be held at the United Nations by the end of this year. 

 

In conclusion, attendees stressed the need to achieve this goal and present the recommendations to the upcoming UN summit, as this could be essential for a more efficient use of natural resources, mitigation of climate change and overcoming other challenges and factors that hamper productivity.
