MoCS announces opening of registration for membership in Akkas Center

The Ministry of Culture and Sports announced that registration is opened for membership in the Akkas Center, which was established under the Decision No (75) of 2021, issued by HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali.
The ministry noted that registration will continue until July 1. Applications will be received via the electronic link through the 'Shabab Lad3m' application, while candidacy for the Board's election will open after the membership registration procedures are completed.
Akkas Center aims to promote photography in Qatar and provide appropriate conditions for its practice with scientific, technical and educational methods and means. The centre also aims to facilitate means for the members to practice their activities in an appropriate manner, in particular to develop plans and programmes that achieve the practice and development of photography, in addition to providing all the material and human capabilities necessary to achieve the goals of the centre, and encouraging and training young people to practice this hobby.
Head of the Youth Centres Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports Fawaz al-Mseifri said that the Ministry decided to carry out the registration for membership online in compliance with the precautionary measures put in place by the state to limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19), provided that the Membership Affairs Committee formed by the Center studies the applications in accordance with the conditions specified for registration.
 
Al-Mseifri noted that the youth in centres seek to empower young people to lead the youth sectors, and they represent an opportunity for young people to choose their representatives in leading youth work and decision-making, adding that the department invites all photography enthusiasts from both genders to obtain membership in the centre.
For his part, Ahmed al-Ansari, in charge of managing the centre, said that the centre will hold competitions and specialised technical courses, and will grant financial or in-kind awards and incentives to the talented, aiming at deepening the spirit of belonging to the group, dedication to serving the nation and instilling a spirit of cooperation and human, religious and moral values among the youth.
He added that the centre will organise seminars, presentations and activities in the field of photography, and will coordinate with government and private agencies, centres, clubs and associations that carry out similar activities inside and outside the country, in addition to representing the youth sector in local festivals and relevant national, Arab and international events, and organising research, studies and conferences to discuss means of promoting photography.
