MOI: Exercises will proceed to maintain metro stations

A number of exercises are being carried out at metro stations by the Ministry of the Interior, embodied by the Department of Public Transport Security, with the aim of increasing preparation and defining the steps taken to protect railways with the involvement of several entities, such as the General Administration of Civil Defense, the ambulance service at Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar Railways Company (Raa).
Lieutenant Colonel Salem Sultan Al Nauimi, Head of the Department of Public Transport Security, said that since its establishment, the Department has been fully engaged in protecting all public transportation in the region, including the Doha Metro, the Lusail Tram, and the buses in Qatar, in order to increase the preparation of the workforce at these stations.
He pointed out that the activities started last year and would be conducted over the course of the year in line with the same previous schedule and the schedules stated. He suggested that the exercise plans were formulated in the context of the Coronavirus epidemic, in particular, in accordance with the protection criteria and the preventative measures taken by the State to tackle the outbreak.
He added that, with the involvement of several other groups, the Ministry of the Interior has carried out numerous exercises, whether from the Ministry embodied by the General Administration of Civil Defense, the National Command Center and the General Traffic Agency, or from entities outside the Ministry, such as Qatar Rail or Hamad Medical Corpora's operating company and ambulance service.
