Msheireb Museums’ first design contest registration draws close end of November

Msheireb Museums Design Competition
Contest participants are required to design a unique gift item or souvenir product that will be retailed in the Msheireb Museums gift shop.
 
Registration for the first Msheireb Museums Design Competition for gift products will close, as announced earlier, at the end of this month.
 
 
Msheirb Museums had announced an open invitation for designers and the general public to join in its first design competition which will focus on designing gift products which will be sold at the museum gift shop. Registration is open until November 30 and winners will be announced in the second half of January next year.
 
“Msheireb Museums is pleased to invite all creative designers to participate in its first Design Competition for gift products. Special prizes await the winners!” the museum has posted on its social media pages. 
 
Contest participants are required to design a unique gift item or souvenir product that represents Msheireb Museums and/or Msheireb Downtown Doha that will be retailed in the Msheireb Museums gift shop.
 
The competition is open to designers, students, innovators, and the general public age 18 and above and holding a valid Qatar Residency Permit and Qatar ID, excluding Msheireb Museum and Msheireb Properties employees or first-degree siblings. Contestant rules are posted on Msheireb Museums’ website.
 
A participant can submit up to three product designs. The design proposal must contain a detailed description of the concept with suggested measurements, and each design proposal should include a maximum of 10 images or drawings of the product (pieces and assembly) with all details and technical data submitted as a PDF file. All submissions shall be made in either Arabic or English language.
 
The criteria for evaluating the submitted designs include uniqueness, use of Msheireb Museums and/or Msheireb Downtown Doha concepts with creativity in development of the design, and design of product. The project must not have been submitted to other competitions.
 
The jury will comprise members of Msheireb Museums and Msheireb Properties from various professional backgrounds, including the sectors of museums, design, retail, in addition to a member of Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar. 
 
The top three winners will be selected to receive cash prizes of QR15,000; QR10,000 and QR5,000. 
 
In addition, the winning designers will have their name acknowledged on all merchandise they have designed which will be sold.
