‘My Disability Unlocked My Talents’ Contest Now Accepting Entries

Under the patronage of the His Excellency Dr Mohammad bin Abdul Wahid Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Higher Education, the third edition of the "My Disability Unlocked My Talents" competition has been launched under the theme of "My Health and Safety."

The competition aims to ensure equal opportunities for students with disabilities to highlight their talents and creations in consistency with the Ministry's vision of "Leading innovative, high-quality, life-long learning opportunities serving Qatar's society". It further seeks to help the disabled students with their creations in various fields and sponsor the talents that are capable of evolving in the future.

The theme of this academic year's edition is relevant to the COVID-19 pandemic, which highlighted the importance of protecting our health and forced would countries to take a wide range of precautionary measures to ensure the health and welfare of their people.

 

The announcement of winners will be made by the end of next March. A special ceremony will be held to honor the first three places in each of the 4 areas of competition.

'My Disability Unlocked My Talents' targets students with all disabilities (motor disability, hearing impairment, autism, intellectual disability, visual impairment), who have a talent in one of four areas of competition. Disabled students in schools, as well as educational and rehabilitation centers, are eligible to take part in the competition.

The competition will serve as a platform for students with disabilities to demonstrate their skills, which allows them to build their confidence and present their distinguished literary and artistic works.

Students can compete in four areas:

• Memorizing the Holy Quran

• short story writing

• speech

• rhetoric and artistic creativity

All submissions and attachments must be emailed to the Special Education and Gifted Students Department at (sgeo@edu.gov.qa) by no later than Sunday, 7 February 2021.
