Population of Qatar reaches the second-highest levels this year

According to latest figures released by the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS), Qatar's population rose by more than 6% at the end of September compared to the previous month.

Population at the end of September was 2,718,000, up from 2,562,000 in August, which is an increase of 156,000 people, reported Gulf Times.

This is the second-highest population numbers the country has seen this year. Earlier, in May, Qatar’s population had reached 2,731,910 people.

In the three successive months between June 1 and August 31, the population dropped as a large number of people, mainly expatriates, were away from the country due to the summer holidays.

Population is likely to keep going up in the next few months provided the usual trend seen between October to December continue this year as well.
