As part of the cooperation between Qatar Airways (QA) and Qatar Charity (QC), two planes carrying over 100 tons of food aid have arrived in Beirut, the Capital of Lebanon where Qatar Charity’s field teams continue to distribute urgent food aid delivered by the second plane to those affected by the Beirut explosion, as of Friday.

The first plane arrived last Sunday, while the second consignment was delivered on Thursday evening, and were received by the Qatari ambassador to Lebanon Muhammad Al-Jaber, members of the embassy and the representative of Qatar Charity in Lebanon. The assistance is expected to benefit 11,000 affected families in different areas of the capital Beirut.

Faisal Rashid Al-Fahida, Assistant CEO for the International Operations and Partnerships Sector at Qatar Charity, said, “We have been keen to carry out humanitarian intervention since the second day of the massive explosion that has rocked the port area of Beirut, aiming at delivering the urgent food and medical aid to the affected through our field teams in Lebanon.”

He added that Qatar Charity continued its cooperation with companies, including Qatar Airways and Ali Bin Ali Holding Group in the State of Qatar for garnering support for its “Lebanon in Our Hearts" campaign and delivering aid quickly to the affected in Lebanon.

Al-Fahida also thanked Qatar Airways, the Ali Bin Ali Group and all those who supported the campaign, in adding to thanking the Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon for facilitating the delivery of the Qatari relief assistance to the victims.

Qatar Airways Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Ms. Salam Al Shawa, said: “In response to the tragic events that took place in Beirut, it has been touching to see the community in Qatar come together to stand behind the people of Lebanon.

“Qatar Airways’ aid programme focused on enabling our staff and members of the public in Qatar to donate essential supplies that we could ship through Qatar Airways Cargo to Beirut. We partnered with Ali Bin Ali Holding so that people could easily purchase items from Monoprix Qatar and with Qatar Charity who ensured that these donations were distributed effectively on the ground.

“On behalf of everyone at Qatar Airways, I would like to thank our partner Qatar Charity, and everyone who contributed to this important programme for their invaluable support.”
