The State of Qatar underlined that it attaches great importance to promoting and protecting children's rights, considering it a priority issue in its development plan, which is based on the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the related sectoral strategies.

The State of Qatar indicated that it has adopted an integrated perspective of development that takes into account the basic needs of the child in terms of nutrition, health, education, shelter, and the provision of a safe and healthy environment that works on the child's development and survival within a framework of integrated protection and care.

This came in the speech of the State of Qatar during the annual meeting on the rights of the child, titled "Rights of the child and the Sustainable Development Goals," at the 46th session of the Human Rights Council, which was delivered by Second Secretary of the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations office in Geneva Talal Al Naama.

Talal Al Naama said that, within the framework of the State of Qatar's international development policies, it has focused on providing the right to education as a major priority, and has strengthened its partnerships in this regard by implementing several programs, such as "Educate A Child" affiliated to the Qatari Education Above All Foundation, which has succeeded in annexing ten million who has been deprived of this right due to armed conflicts, natural disasters, and other circumstances, through the conclusion of 82 partnerships in 50 countries, at a cost of USD1.8 billion, where the State of Qatar has contributed a third of it to global efforts between the private sector and the civil society and international organizations.

In the same context, Talal Al Naama explained that the State of Qatar has pledged to educate one million girls by 2021 and to support the "Charlevoix Declaration" on providing quality education for girls and women in developing countries.

Also, the State of Qatar's hosting of the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries from 23 to 27 January 2022 will provide a valuable opportunity in the context of the growing challenges that the world is witnessing today to meet the needs of developing countries in terms of achieving development goals and support their efforts and priorities in this regard, he added.
