Who can travel to the Maldives?

These offers are available to anyone who is currently living in Qatar. This includes Qatari Nationals, their travelling companions, and QID holders.

Why can I travel to the Maldives now?

Working closely with its colleagues at Qatar Airways, Hamad International Airport and the Ministry of Public Health, Qatar Airways Holidays has created a ‘Safe Travel Bubble’ between Qatar and the Maldives by securing exclusive use resorts only for Nationals and residents of Qatar.

What is a ‘Safe Travel Bubble’ Holiday Package and how does it work?

The ‘Safe Travel Bubble’ Holiday Packages have been designed so that everyone travelling will have tested negative for Covid-19. All travelers will be required to show a negative PCR test for Covid-19 taken no more than 72 hours prior to boarding. This is a condition of entry into the Maldives.

In addition, all passengers will then be required to undertake a rapid response test at the airport prior to boarding the flight from Doha to Male.

All hotels featured in this offer have been exclusively contracted by Qatar Airways Holidays, so that the only guests staying at the resort are those who have been tested and have arrived on a secure Qatar Airways flight. This means that everyone arriving to each exclusive use resort has had 2 negative Covid-19 tests within 72 hours of their departure.

All staff in each of Qatar Airways Holidays'specially selected resorts are regularly tested for Covid-19. They also undertake a mandatory 14 day quarantine period prior to commencing work on the island resorts. Due to the isolated nature of the resorts, with every reasonable precaution taken, these exclusive use resorts are as safe to visit as any of the resorts in Qatar.

On return to Doha, everyone will receive an additional rapid PCR test for Covid-19 on arrival at HIA. Once a negative test result is confirmed, you will be able to continue your journey home, without quarantine or self-isolation.

Rapid PCR tests will deliver a confirmed result within 15 minutes.

Can I visit the Maldives without buying a Travel Bubble Holidays package from QRH?

Yes, you can visit the Maldives and book into any resort or hotel of your choice, without buying the exclusive travel bubble package, however you will be required to follow the normal exit and entry conditions for the Maldives. An EEP is required for residents, and self-isolation is required for Qatari Nationals and Residents upon return to Qatar.

Where do I get my PCR test done, and what documentation do I need to show at check in?

Please contact your usual local health professional for guidance about how and where to book a certified PCR test for yourself and each of your travelling party.

To assist, the Ministry of Public Health have produced a list of health facilities accredited to test for Covid-19.

Please also ensure you take the appropriate certification to the airport for all members of your travelling party, as this will be a condition of boarding and entry into the Maldives.

Do I need a Visa to enter the Maldives?

Please visit https://immigration.gov.mv/tourist-visa/ to ensure that you meet all the entry requirements for arrival into the Maldives.

What else do I need?

Each member of your travelling party will need to complete a declaration form which will need to be presented when checking-in for the outbound flight before you will be allowed to board.

You will need to keep a hard copy of your ‘Travel Bubble Holidays’ booking confirmation with you at all times. You will be required to present it when checking-in to your return flight and when you return to Qatar to prove that you are exempt from the Exceptional Entry Permit and quarantine requirements.

In accordance to health requirements all travellers travelling to the Maldives are required to submit a self-declarative health declaration within 24 hours prior to their departure. You can submit your application online here.

How many tests will I need to take?

You will be required to take 3 tests in total;

1. A PCR test no more than 72 hours before you planned departure.

2. At HIA before boarding you will receive a rapid PCR test, as a boarding requirement. You will need to go to your boarding gate at least 45 minutes prior to departure. Please ensure you leave ample time in order to receive the test as, if you arrive after this time, you will be denied boarding.

3. Upon your return to HIA after your stay, you will receive a 3rd and final rapid PCR test, which if negative means you can leave the airport and there is no need for any quarantine or self-isolation.

Are there any key timings that I need to be aware of when checking in and boarding at Hamad International Airport?

Check-in will open 4 hours before your scheduled departure and close 2 hours before your scheduled departure. Qatar Airways Holidays recommend that you check-in 4 hours before your flight.

Do I need an Exceptional Entry Permit before I can return to Qatar?
