Qatar and UN signs agreement to establish UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the country

An agreement has been signed by the State of Qatar and the United Nations (UN) in order to establish the UN office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the State of Qatar.
HE the permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Said Al-Thani signed representing the State of Qatar, while HE Under Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock signed the agreement on the UN's behalf.
The ultimate aim of this establishment will be to coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors, defend the rights of those in need, raise the level of alert and prevention, and facilitate sustainable solutions. 
 
The Doha region office of the UN OCHA will also support the main United Nations office's mission of coordinating global humanitarian action and field operations around the world.
