Qatar Celebrates 6th Qatar Patient Safety Week​​

Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) celebrates the sixth Qatari Patient Safety Week, from 13 to 19 September, under the slogan "The safety of health workers is a priority for patient safety", in conjunction with the World Patient Safety Day, which falls on September 17.

The sixth Qatari Patient Safety Week aims to promote the concept of patient safety at the national level, urge the community to participate in ensuring healthcare safety, and raise awareness about the importance of safety of health workers and the safety of the work environment to ensure patient safety through a more holistic approach.

In this context, the MOPH organizes several awareness activities and events remotely and will focus on many axes, including the transformation of the healthcare system in the State of Qatar in the context of combating the Covid-19 pandemic threats, managing risks and ensuring patient safety during crises, as well as infection control and curbing the spread of Covid-19, and strategies used to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on healthcare workers’ mental health.

The events and activities will include lectures and panel discussions by 22 local and international speakers, including 4 discussion panels on the most important developments in light of the Covid-19 pandemic with the participation of various health and educational institutions such as Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC), the Qatari Red Crescent, Sidra Medicine, Qatar University and several private hospitals.

Several landmarks in Qatar will also be illuminated in orange as a symbolic gesture in recognition of the efforts made by health workers to provide safe healthcare services to patients daily, in addition to spreading awareness messages on social media platforms.

 

 

The Qatari Patient Safety Week is an annual event organized by MOPH at the national level since 2014 as an educational and awareness initiative and campaign aimed at spreading the concept of patient safety among the workforce in healthcare institutions and their community users, providing opportunities to exchange local and international experiences and creating a platform to share achievements and promote Partnerships and keeping abreast of developments in patient safety.
