As part of the fifth edition of the “Future Writers” program, Qatar Charity (QC) launched the advanced training forum for the winners in the fourth edition of the program, aiming to continue developing their story writing skills. Some 24 students from primary, preparatory, and secondary schools and Qatar University participated in the event.

The training forum will continue until April for the participants, who are divided into three levels (primary, preparatory and secondary, and university), with each level receiving 5 training workshops.

The first event of the training forum included three workshops on various topics such as creative writing, the idea, and the elements of a story, and the plot in a short story.

The first workshop, which was given by the writer Youssef Baalouj, was entitled "The Idea and Elements of the Story". It was for primary school students. The workshop also included practices.

Baalouj expressed his delight with the response from the participants and their eagerness to learn new skills, develop their capabilities, and improve their talents in the field of story writing. He also noted that such workshops will contribute to transforming their story writing hobby into a constant interest in this domain.

The second workshop, presented by Dr. Imtenan Al-Smadi from Qatar University, was entitled "Creative Writing". It was dedicated to preparatory and secondary school students.

Al-Smadi said that creativity is the production of something new, useful, original and socially acceptable, and it solves a problem logically.

The third workshop was delivered for the university students by Dr. Abdelhak Belabed, Associate Professor of Literature Theory and Comparative Literature at the Arabic Language Department of Qatar University. The workshop was about the plot in the short story.

Belabed touched upon the components, shapes and elements of the plot in the story.  At the end of the workshop, he analyzed some stories, explaining how to build a plot in the story.
