Qatar Charity (QC) received a donation from Mandarin Oriental, Doha to support ‘Teach Me’ an initiative of Qatar Charity dedicated to supporting educational projects in Qatar and worldwide. The donation, which was made to honor the celebration of the Qatar National Day 2020, was collected in partnership with students from Qatar Academy Msheireb, part of Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education. The student chose to support the ‘Teach Me’ initiative.

Mandarin Oriental, Doha donated a portion of the proceeds from each limited-edition cake sold to the QAM students’ charity of choice, ‘Teach Me’, serving to bring communities together as one in honor of Qatar, and in celebration of its national day.

Mr. Ahmmed Omar AlSherawi, Head of Relations and Social Responsibility Department, Qatar Charity, thanked Mandarin Oriental, Doha for donating to the "Teach Me" initiative, indicating that this contribution would support Qatar Charity’s educational efforts, especially for the benefit of low-income students. He also appreciated Mandarin Oriental, Doha for the trust in Qatar Charity, noting it is a testament to the importance of the role of companies in promoting humanitarian action to maximize the number of beneficiaries.

He also emphasized the keenness of Qatar Charity to collaborate with all, both organizations and individuals within the country, to contribute to achieving the noble humanitarian goals, and implement various development projects.

“The objective of this initiative stemmed from our aspiration to inspire and encourage the students in our local community by enabling them to showcase their talents in art whilst supporting children and youth in need of education,” said Mr. Martin Schnider, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Doha. “We take great pride in our support of education, and we believe that a brighter future starts with an education, giving children and youth the opportunities and support they need to find their success in school and in life,” he added.

Ms. Belinda Holland, Director of Qatar Academy Msheireb, in her statement about the partnership, said: “An International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program School, Qatar Academy Msheireb engages its learners in authentic learning connected to the real world. The partnership with Mandarin Oriental, Doha and Qatar Charity is an example of this. The right to education is a human right, and as empathetic, lifelong learners, Qatar Academy Msheireb students have used this right as a platform to support those who may otherwise be excluded.”
