The art initiative launched by Qatar Charity (QC), in cooperation with Dar Hessa has recently been concluded, receiving an overwhelming response from Qatari and resident artists, as well as from people.

Some 42 different paintings were displayed on Qatar Charity’s website and social media accounts to support low-income families in Qatar with the profits of these paintings, especially in light of the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Hanadi Al-Darwish, an artist and the owner of Dar Hessa, said, “The artists and people interacted overwhelmingly with the initiative, whose profits were channeled towards supporting low-income families affected by the coronavirus within the State of Qatar.”

She also expressed her delight with the success of the initiative that she termed as ‘a wonderful humane experience’, which reflected the importance of art in the community service, social solidarity, easing the suffering of the needy, and raising awareness of humanitarian and social issues.

She added, "We, as artists, must contribute to providing aid to the affected families, and limiting the social and economic negative impacts of the pandemic."

Mona Al-Badr, an artist, said, “We received cooperation from Qatar Charity in organizing the initiative and we look forward to participating in such a drive in collaboration with Qatar Charity in future.”  She also noted that art is a language understandable by everyone, and delivers the message easily to garner support for a noble cause and urge benefactors to help the coronavirus-hit people.

Jawaher Al-Mannai, also an artist, said that the initiative has contributed to demonstrating the humanitarian role of artists in supporting the community service, adding that the artist should take part in such initiatives to show the values of art and culture in supporting humanitarian action.
