Qatar Envoy Describes Qatar's Participation in SPIEF 2021 as Distinctive

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Thani, affirmed that the speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani represented the greatest motivation for the success of the S.t Petersburg International Economic Forum, which was held at the highest levels from June 2 to 5.

In an interview with Qatar Radio today, His Excellency indicated that HH the Amir's speech during the forum led to a very high confidence with the Russian side, adding that all Russian companies are looking forward to joint cooperation.

His Excellency noted that the speech of HH the Amir confirmed that the State of Qatar is one of the largest foreign investors in Russia, with diversified investments amounting to more than USD13 billion.

His Excellency added that the State of Qatar's investments in Russia are in many areas and in large numbers, and Qatar have many contracts signed by Qatar Investment Authority, and there are future contracts with the Russian Federation, considering that HE President Vladimir Putin's affirmation of the strong support to Qatar to organize the 2022 World Cup comes from the distinguished relationship that binds His Excellency, with HH the Amir. His Excellency noted that this support led to joint cooperation between companies in the two countries.

His Excellency said that the large delegation of the State of Qatar, which participated in the forum, headed by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, contributed to its success, in addition to signing many agreements during the event.

His Excellency pointed out that the State of Qatar participated in the forum in a distinguished manner as a honor guest, with the aim of advancing bilateral cooperation relations with the Russian Federation and enhancing the status of the State of Qatar externally, especially in the economic field, noting the importance of the forum and its objectives as a global economic event.

His Excellency pointed to the participation of the State of Qatar with a large pavilion in the forum, which included 52 participants in light of the current conditions of the Coronavirus pandemic.

His Excellency added that Qatar's participation included various economic sectors, adding that the results of this positive participation were evident through communication with Russian businessmen and their reaction to this Qatari participation.

His Excellency added that inviting the State of Qatar to participate in this global forum comes as it is a strong country with a distinguished system in the field of economy and money preservation, which gives lasting satisfaction to Russian businessmen and to business between the State of Qatar and Russia.

His Excellency said that the participation of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy in the forum constituted an opportunity to promote the World Cup Qatar 2022, and there is a distinguished cooperation between the State of Qatar and Russia, especially that Russia hosted the World Cup in 2018 in a very impressive manner, and there is joint cooperation between the two countries in these areas.

His Excellency stressed the presence of a large number of Russian businessmen to invest and cooperate with the State of Qatar in all fields, adding that Russian businessmen are determined to deepen aspects of cooperation and investment in the State of Qatar.

His Excellency considered that this forum represented an economic openness to all fields in the world after the stagnation caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. (QNA)
