Qatar Football Association Holds its General Assembly

The Qatar Football Association's (QFA) General Assembly agreed to extend the term of the current Executive Office, which ends in December 2022, until the 2023 General Assembly. Two new members are set to joining.

The announcement was made during the meeting held via video conference today, with President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA) HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, members of QFAs Executive Committee, members of the General Assembly from the clubs, directors of departments, heads of the various committees of the QFA, and club members representatives.

The meeting began with HE the president welcoming members to the meeting. Secretary-General of QFA Mansoor Al Ansari explained the mechanism for voting on the General Assembly agenda electronically. The General Assembly agenda was swiftly approved after the amendment of some of its clauses, while the previous meeting minutes were also approved.

The General Assembly attendees agreed to extend the term of the current Executive Office, which ends in December 2022, until the 2023 General Assembly, with two new members joining.

 

The President of QFA said that they are currently working on expanding the professional set-up by allowing Second Division clubs to join the Qatar Stars League roster.

The meeting also saw representatives of Muaither SC and Al Markhiya SC call for a revamp of the relegation and promotion mechanisms. QFA President said that the association, through specialized committees, is looking to radically develop football, but with a focus on the teams that occupied the top positions. He added that second-division teams will become a more active part of the process once they join Qatar Stars League.
