AlBawarih wind is a well-known local term in the gulf region which refers to northwesterly fresh to strong wind that results from extension of Indian monsoon low over the region along with the presence of a high pressure system over northern Arabian Peninsula. It usually starts blowing at the end of May and continues until the middle of July.

The most important characteristics of AlBawarih wind is that it weakens at night and gains strength gradually at sunrise reaching peak during noon time causing blowing dust and poor visibility at times with low relative humidity as well as high sea waves.
