Qatar Joins Meeting on Strengthening Regional, International Consensus on Afghan Peace

The State of Qatar participated in the meeting, via video conference, for strengthening regional and international consensus on Afghan peace process, which was opened by HE President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ghani with the participation of HE President of the Supreme Council for National Reconciliation Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.

The meeting was chaired by HE Afghanistan's Acting Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar. 20 Countries and international organizations including United Nations participated in the meeting.

 

 

 

HE Special Envoy of the Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar for Counterterrorism and Mediation of Conflict Resolution Dr. Mutlaq bin Majed Al Qahtani represented the State of Qatar in the meeting.

The reiterated the importance of strengthening regional and international consensus on Afghan peace process; starting Intra-Afghan talks; reducing violence, and releasing prisoners in preparation for the transition to the stage of negotiations, which is expected to start in Doha this month.
