Qatar announced today the arrest of 19 people who were caught repackaging expired food items and allegedly attempting to sell them by changing their validity dates.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) recovered a device which they found in a warehouse in Umm Abiriya where the accused are using it to modify the expiration dates of foodstuff.

MoI said in a statement on Twitter:

"The North Security Department arrested 15 persons from Arab and Asian countries after they repackaged and wrapped expired foodstuffs inside a warehouse in Umm Abiriya.”

Law enforcement personnel in Qatar, headed by the Al Shamal Security Department, captured the defendants. They referred them to the competent prosecution for further legal proceedings.
