This year’s Qatar National Day (QND) activities will include fireworks in Doha Corniche at 8:30 pm on Friday December 18, 2020 in addition to events held at Katara, officials said today.

This year’s Qatar National Day (QND) parade is strictly by invitation only due to COVID-19 precaution, a QND organizing committee official has said.

While the parade on December 18 will be telecast through television channels for the general public, invited families of people working in the healthcare sector and participating agencies will get to watch it in person, Brigadier Dr Ali Khujaim Al Adbi, the Head of the Security Committee, said.

The head of the security committee stressed that entry will be for invitees only as one permit for one person. The attendees must show the Ehteraz application in green status when entering and adhere to precautionary and health measures, physical distancing in the places, and must stay in their seats and not to move until the end of the ceremony. The guidelines include to avoid smoking in the stands, chanting, or using live choirs and singing, and should adhere to the designated paths to the parking spaces as specified in the invitation cards.

The waterfront from the Corniche will be completely closed and the public will not be allowed to enter it. Entry is only permitted for those authorized through invitations to attend, as each invitee is given a card for car parks and seats in the galleries. The invitation card includes a barcode that determines the direction of the car’s path to the parking directly. The Qatar Red Crescent teams will be present at the gates entrances to ensure the compliance of the attendees with health requirements.
