Qatar Petroleum signs a deal for the supply of 3 MTPA of LNG to Pakistan
Qatar Petroleum has moved into a strategic long-term Purchase and Sales Arrangement (SPA) with Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO) for the delivery to the State Of Pakistan of up to 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

LNG deliveries to Pakistan's world-class receiving terminals will begin in 2022 and run until the end of 2031, according to the 10-year deal.

HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum, and Syed Taha, Managing Director & CEO of PSO, sealed the SPA in Islamabad in a traditional celebration held under the auspices and attended by HE Imran Khan, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, senior officials of the Pakistani government and HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Qatar's Ambassador to Pakistan.

Two operating LNG receiving terminals are currently in service in Pakistan, namely the Engro LNG Receiving Terminal and the Pakistan GasPort LNG Receiving Terminal, all using aquatic storage and regasification units moored in Port Qasim. Various private sector players in the country are reportedly exploring a variety of additional terminals.

After 2016, when Qatargas concluded a long-term deal to provide PSO with 3.75 MTPA of LNG, this is the second such contract among Qatari and Pakistani authorities. With today's deal, Qatar's long-term LNG supplies to Pakistan have risen to 6.75 MTPA.
