Qatar provides about 9 tonnes of protective equipment to Ukrainian health workers

A Qatar Airways special flight has delivered almost nine tonnes of humanitarian aid from the State of Qatar to Ukraine to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

A plane delivering humanitarian aid was met by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Ukraine Hadi Al-Hajri at Boryspil International Airport on May 26, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service reported.

The cargo weighing almost nine tonnes contains personal protective equipment for healthcare workers, including medical gowns, glasses, masks, respirators, gloves, face shields and overalls.

“Ukraine highly appreciates the decision of the Emir of the State of Qatar and will always remember this manifestation of friendship. Our bilateral relations have great potential, which we will fully realize for the benefit of our peoples,” Kuleba said.

s a reminder, agreements on the provision of Qatari humanitarian aid to Ukraine were reached during phone conversations between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on May 6, as well as between Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on May 7.
