Ms. Noor Ibrahim Shahdad, Director of International Relations and Acting Director of Public Relations and Communications at the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC), has stated that MOTC has launched the electric vehicle strategy prepared by MOTC, in collaboration with stakeholders.

She clarified that this strategy is regarded as part of the implementation of the Ministry's strategy that aims at providing an integrated, multi-modal and world-class transport system providing safe, reliable and environmentally friendly services.

Ms. Shahdad emphasized that 25% of the public transport bus fleet will be converted into electric buses and environmentally friendly buses by 2022 and these buses will operate by the new diesel fuel free of sulfur that causes the harmful emissions emanating from combustion.

She added: "The services of public transport buses, government school buses and Doha Metro feeder buses will gradually shift to electric buses, thus achieving the required percent to reduce the ratio of the harmful carbon emissions caused by conventional buses, by 2030."
