Qatar Residents Feeling Positive About New Changes in Labour Law

  • 4 years   ago

In a historic move, the State of Qatar has recently introduced major changes to its labour market.

All workers, of all nationalities, will have the freedom to change jobs without first having to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.

Qatar is also currently the first country in the region to adopt a non-discriminatory minimum wage minimum wage of 1,800 Qatari riyals (QAR) for migrant workers.

Here are the comments and reactions of some residents in Qatar upon hearing the news about the latest changes in the country’s employment process:

Actually, we are very happy upon hearing this big news and very thankful to the Government of Qatar specially to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani  because this would really help a lot of workers in Qatar to search for better jobs that would offer better salary and benefits. It also tackles current problems with regards to salary delays and minimum wages. 🙂 - Gae Mrahc

For me, NOC removal will strengthen the desire and willingness of many workers here in Doha, Qatar. To be free to work to our desired company and become even more committed in serving and supporting the industries in Qatar. ❤️ Inshallah, this will contribute in providing highly dynamic business ventures with respect to the guidelines and laws provided by Qatar government. - John Dean

This is a very brave decision by Qatar Government which will be beneficial for expats who are serving the state. The best talent will boost now and this decision is worth appreciating and it’s truly in the interest of the employee as well as employer. - Sumit Koli

One of those who commented mentioned that this is the good news of 2020, despite of all the challenges the world has been facing earlier this year due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
