The State of Qatar will participate in the SelectUSA Investment Summit, which is currently taking place via video conference until June 11.
HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, who is also Acting Minister of Finance, will chair the state's delegation that will include officials from Qatar Investment Authority, the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar, Economic Zones Company, Hassad Food Company, and Katara Hospitality.
The State of Qatar's participation in the virtual summit comes in the framework of its commitment to enhance bilateral relations with the United States, and shed light on the investment opportunities available in Qatar and the US. The strong Qatari-American economic ties reflected positively on the bilateral trade volume for 2020, which reached $5.3 billion. The US is Qatar's fifth largest trade partner.
This year's summit will focus on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global economy, and the efforts of economic recovery. The summit will organize 100 virtual sessions that will discuss various topics such as logistics, investment in the US, supply chains, modern technology investment trends, and smart cities, among other topics.
