Qatar to get Arab world's first Panda habitat and 18 new parks

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment will undertake nine projects in 2021, including a panda shelter and 18 new parks in various regions of the country, Dr Abdullah bin Nasser Al Kaabi, Director of Projects and Development Department has said.

Qatar Tribune in August reported that the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) invited tenders for the construction of a panda enclosure at the Al Khor Zoo.

Besides the shelter and parks, the MME will undertake projects to establish a waste segregation facility in Al Khor, a landfill in Mesaieed and equip laboratories under the ministry with various new facilities, among other projects.

The ministry will also initiate a project to plant rows of trees along roads to act as a windbreaker to reduce the force of sandstorms and to beautify roads.
