Qatar will always support Sudan, says foreign minister

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani affirmed that he carries a message of support from HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the brothers in Sudan, indicating that his visit to Khartoum comes within the framework of brotherhood and fraternally relations that links the State of Qatar with the Republic of the Sudan and the Qatari and Sudanese peoples.
In a joint press conference with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan Dr. Mariam Al Sadiq Al Mahdi in Khartoum on Monday, HE the Foreign Minister said that the visit constituted a good opportunity to discuss ways to advance cooperation and strengthen relations between the two countries, noting that these relations have solid historical foundations.
He added that Sudan is going through exceptional circumstances in this transitional phase, which is a normal thing, adding that the State of Qatar is fully confident that Sudan will emerge from this stage stronger with the hands of its sons and daughters. He stressed that the State of Qatar will always support the Republic of the Sudan.
HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that the talk included the issue of Darfur Peace and the Juba Agreement, affirming the State of Qatar's support for all these efforts, and its continued work with the Sudanese government to achieve all peace requirements and support it.
There was an opportunity to talk about other regional issues, whether the recent tension with Ethiopia or the regional situation in Libya and Chad and this was a good opportunity to exchange views, HE the Foreign Minister explained.
He added that the State of Qatar doesn't want anything that affects the Sudanese people, or their security and lives, commending the way Sudan deals with these issues in a wise and quiet diplomatic manner, and expressing hope that there will be a solution to these crises through dialogue and diplomatic communication between the two countries.
HE the Foreign Minister pointed out that the talks also touched on the issues of Arab countries, especially the Palestinian issue, where there was a prolonged discussion about the recent unfortunate events that the Israeli occupation carried out against the Palestinian, whether the attacks in the Al Aqsa Mosque or the displacement of the residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem, or the inhumane bombing of the brothers in Gaza, underlining that the State of Qatar stands by the Palestinian people, and affirms that there will be no solution to this issue except with a just solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishing the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the return of refugees.
HE the Foreign Minister said that the Arab world is going through a difficult stage, noting that such phases and challenges constitute an opportunity to gather around the nation's issues. His Excellency added that he had an excellent conversation with HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Republic of the Sudan, expressing his aspiration to work together to promote joint Arab action.
