Qatari high-altitude climber reaches Ama Dablam summit in Nepal

Climbing Ama Dablam is no small feat as it requires technical knowledge and endurance through very harsh cold climatic conditions while adhering to all pandemic precautionary measures and its regulations.

Fahad Badar, a Qatari high-altitude climber reached the summit of Ama Dablam, Nepal, on January 14.

Badar is an adventure seeker and banking executive who keeps challenging himself after every mountaineering expedition, scaled the summit despite the Covid-19 pandemic and its regulations.

Climbing Ama Dablam is no small feat as it requires technical knowledge and endurance through very harsh cold climatic conditions while adhering to all pandemic precautionary measures and its regulations.

Ama Dablam means “mother’s necklace” and climbing the ascent is a life-changing experience for every mountain climber.

Located at an incredibly high altitude of 6,856 meters, the Ama Dablam peak is nestled in the up in the Nepalese Himalayas.

Ama Dablam is a popular mountaineering destination not just due to its breath-taking scenic natural beauty but also due to the fact that experienced mountaineers find it exhilarating, due to the several daunting challenges that accompany the hazardous summit climb.

Another notable feature of Ama Dablam is that due to its incredibly high altitude and geographic location the peak can only be climbed at two periods during  the year -  from April to May or September to October.

Moreover, Badar is always excited to face new challenges and therefore, started his expedition in the month of December last year.

This is primarily due to the fact that Ama Dablam poses a daunting challenge in winter because besides the thrilling climbing routes made of snow, ice, and rock, the expedition poses a higher level of difficulty due to the winter season itself.

The Ama Dablam summit is among the most technical and challenging climbs on Earth but Badar wanted to test his abilities and resilience thereby providing fundamental experiences that would prove useful in his upcoming trips.

“I was looking forward to reaching the summit of Ama Dablam. It’s been quite a long time since I’ve been away from the mountains, and I have the need to return to the place where I feel the most alive. It was also important it was to train my mind during all these months where most expeditions were canceled, due to COVID-19, explained Bader.

Incidentally, Badar, is also the first Arab man to reach summit peaks of Everest and Lhotse in a single trip.
