Qatar Charity (QC) has commenced performing open-heart valve surgeries for children with congenital heart disease in Kyrgyzstan. Some 21 surgeries have successfully been completed, while other 81 surgeries are scheduled to be treated, which is estimated to be at a total cost of over 1.3 million Qatari riyals.

Some 60 surgeries will be performed in the upcoming period in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Heart Hospital management. QC will be seeking to extend the rightful support to implement these surgeries, also has purchased the necessary facilities and supplies, granted medical care to all the hospitalised patients, and took care of the laboratory tests, in addition to undertaking to provide the required medicines to the patients during the period of medical care.
The Deputy Minister of Kyrgyz Health conveyed his thanks and gratitude to the State of Qatar, the generous donors and supporters, as well as for QC for supporting all enhancement, educational and health projects in Kyrgyzstan, and for implementing qualitative projects such as open-heart surgeries that were in urgent need for the country as they were lacking sufficient medical aids.

This came in a meeting held at the Heart Hospital in the Kyrgyz Republic after performing the surgeries, in the presence of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kyrgyz Republic Abdullah Al Sulaiti.
The deputy health minister also signalled that this kind of surgery is very costly and it not an easy task to provide heart valve devices, as they are not available in the country, and therefore, they are purchased from abroad.
“Qatar Charity and the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Kyrgyz Republic are working on a permanent collaboration to provide the necessary support for the brothers in the Kyrgyz Republic,” said HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kyrgyz Republic Abdullah Al Sulaiti. He also mentioned that open-heart surgeries are among the most important health projects, because they help save many children's lives during desperate situations.
It is worth noting that, in addition to this project, QC’s health projects for Kyrgyzstan include building health centers and providing assistance like respirators which were given during the Covid-19 pandemic, and protective equipment for medical staff, in addition to other health and social projects like providing wheelchairs for those individuals who require special needs and care.
