During the first quarter of 2021, Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) has provided financial support to around 1,000 cancer patients which helped them in getting the right treatment.
The Chairman of QCS Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Jabor Al Thani said that an overall number of 981 cancer patients were provided with financial support during the first quarter. The cancer society aims to reduce the financial burdens on cancer patients, including residents of Qatar. QCS helps patients to continue their ongoing treatment, until their recovery through the huge cooperation and partnership with National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR).
During an interview with Al Rayyan TV, Dr. Al Thani said that, “last year, QCS supported 1,317 patients with cancer for their treatment. Since the beginning of this year (i.e., the first quarter), we have taken care of the treatment expenses of 981 patients, at a cost of more than QR6.5m."

He stated that since its establishment in 1997, QCS has been keenly taking efforts in order to achieve its vision to be the community partnership platform for making Qatar a leader in cancer prevention by working jointly with its partners.
Many individuals from different countries were also benefited from QCS since its inception.
Dr. Al Thani said: “Our goal is to spread awareness of cancer and the importance of early detection and prevention methods, as well as covering the cost of treatment for patients”.
“QCS is keen to provide all material and moral support to individuals living with cancer. QCS covered treatment of cancer patients with an approximate cost of QR30m for about 3,000 patients from 2013 to 2018,” he added.
Dr. Al Thani concluded that the QCS also works on different programmes through targeted groups, which include children and the elderly, for each specific programme category.
