QDC sets to host 5th International Schools Debating Championship on April 3

QatarDebate Center (QDC), a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, will host Fifth International Schools Debating Championship 2021 in a hybrid interactive version, under the title "Our Earth, Our Refuge " with the participation of 100 countries on April 3.
For the first time in the center's history, this Championship will be hosted in English with the participation of 50 countries, in conjunction with the Arabic Debating Championship in which 50 countries will also take part from April 3 to 7. The national team, "Annabi Debates", will take part with two groups in each of Arabic and English language competitions, under the supervision of the center's coaches.
 
During this occasion, QDC Executive Director Dr. Hayat Abdullah Marafi mentioned that this international tournament in its hybrid interactive version, is an eminent event in light of the atmosphere imposed by Covid-19 pandemic, consolidating the belief of educational institutions and students in the possibility of transforming the problem into an opportunity to overcome challenges with promising youth skills.
Dr. Marafi also said that the registration for the championship was in two phases, the first from Feb. 14 - 25, and the second from Feb. 28 to Mar. 4, making note that with the announcement of the championship, a guide for registration and participation was presented, which includes all information of interest to those wishing to join this international event.
The center will offer training workshops for arbitrators, team coaches and participants in cooperation with the center's ambassadors and elite members, Dr. Marafi said, highlighting that this championship is not different from the previous local championship, but it is distinguished as a global event that brings students from all over the globe together through the digital space of debate in both Arabic and English on the most significant societal and global issues, expounding that it gives opportunity for debate in and around the world to get to know each other, exchange experiences and build bridges of communication based on dialogue and logic, along with focusing on the position of the Arabic language as a civilized mediator.
